The Committed Collector

I’ve been committed to collecting for as long as I can remember, for I’ve collected one thing or another since I was a child. From Barbie dolls and rock star posters to holiday decorations and whimsical teapots, I’ve put together – and had to dismantle – several large collections. I’ve found collecting comes naturally to me, so giving up a collection, even in part, is a bit heart breaking.

At this point in my collecting career, so to speak, most of my teapots and other treasures are boxed up and stored away – like so many other people’s collections – which has begun to make no sense to me. The collections we love and worked so hard to assemble deserve to be displayed on center stage and in the spotlight.

That’s why I’m working to open The Collectors of Western New York, a public venue where private collections of various kinds can be displayed. Right now, I’m trying to connect with other avid collectors who have extensive collections that would fit in such a museum or gallery.
